Hi,
this morning I thought it is the right time to think about all the things going on in my life and what I have to do over the next months. Which projects lay in front of me and which challenges do I have to meet.
Well, a lot of smaller tasks are on my agenda. For example reviewing the results of the T3DD08 survey, uploading the slides from the same event. And of course my projects at work. All these small things cost me the most efforts. But I'm pretty sure I'll handle them.
On the other side, there are the big ones. This kind of big projects that make you fear some time. Questions raised in my head. Will I finish it this time in case of installer 2.0? Will I be good enough? Will I have enough time? Am I the right guy for the job? In those moments I'm pretty happy to have such a great girlfriend! She supports me with everything I do. She is my backing and motivates me on hard days. I love you honey!
But what are "the big ones"? First of all the Installer 2.0 of course. The project will be reactivated since it was postponed for TYPO3 4.2. I'm currently writing the project description and it looks good that it will happen this time. I got some offers for help and my company (n@work) supports me a lot. Thank you guys!
The other big thing was some kind of a secret till now. Well, not really a secret for the people who know forge.typo3.org. I met with Robert and Dodger some weeks ago and we kinda kick started the TER3 project. This project has the goal to reimplement the Extension Repository based in FLOW3. Well, the main goal is to build the package repository for FLOW3 but that's not finally planned now. This will be the next generation repository for FLOW3.
Even if it might become difficult to do 4.X and 5.X, I really like the idea to play in both worlds. Keep improving 4.X but also learning and supporting the 5.X branch. I hope this will work out.
The last big thing is an event. And you surely know what I'm talking about. As soon as we have the thumbs up from the Association we'll start to plan the T3DD09. We have a lot of ideas and feedback form the this year visitors and if the weather is as great as this year it's going to be even greater than this year. At least we hope so. ;-)
I'm pretty excited about the next months. I'm quite sure that it will be hard some time but we can do it! Tschaka!
So what is the essence of this? Well, I wil be pretty busy the next months. That might become hard for me because I gave myself some sort of time-out the last weeks and I have to get back the moral to work. ;-) But I really felt that I was not satisfied with the situation I was in. That had to change and I see this challenge as a chance to feel better and be more satisfied with everything I do.
So, why do write this at all? Maybe it's because I turned 27 today. Not that old of course, but a good age to do something great for all the persons out there who like the project. I think they deserve something great and I deserve the feeling of being someone important in this community.
Anyway, a birthday is always a good point in time to think about your life, the things you have done and the stuff you are going to do. A birthday is also good for presents! ;-) And if you feel like giving me something, feel free to look at my amazon wishlist.
Thank you all for supporting me in any way,
Thomas
