Hi,
Tobias, the man in charge for the new TypoScript editor in the backend, has done some tremendous work with the editor. Since that last post about the editor a lot has happend.
You saw the podcast with Kasper about the editor that showed an early version. That days, the editor depended a JavaScript framework called moochikit (as I remember right) and it was not very stable.
In the meantime, Tobias removed this dependency and the editor now works with the frameworks inside TYPO3 (mainly prototype). He also added some often requested features. Bracket highlighting and bracket autoclosing.
The highlighting, show you the correspong closing or opening bracket of a bracket pair. And the autoclosing feature automatically adds the closing bracket if you press enter after an opening bracket.
Because the beta of 4.2 inches closer, it's very important to test the editor and give Tobias some feedback. The heavy JavaScript might not work on all systems in all browsers.
The mentioned features are not in the trunk code yet because the sourceforge subverson repositories are down at the moment. (See here) but they will be commited as soon as possible.
In the meantime, check out this short video made by Tobias and test the current trunk version of the editor. (The editor is shipped as sysext within the TYPO3Core repository!).
Greets,
Thomas

Thanks for blogging this :-)
The previous JS-Framework actually called "Mochikit" (mochikit.com) but now we don't care anymore about mochikit
I will update the installation on http://t3e.etobi.de/typo3/ so everybody can see and test the latest t3editor-release (as soon as the SF-SVN is available again).
I'm looking forward for your criticism, feature requests and general feedback about the editor.
