Hi everybody,
today is the last day in 2007. It was an interesting and sometimes stressfull year. We had lot's of changes in the community and many very nice events.
I started with my first real big project for TYPO3 (installer2) and a lot has changed in my private life.
The first big thing I'll not forget too fast was the Snowboardtour 2007 in Les deux alpes. That was the first time I stand on a snowboard and I liked it a lot, even if my body hurt like hell after two days. Maybe I should thunk about makeing some sport between the tours. ;-) Anyway, I'm some kind of hooked on to the sport I'm really looking forward to Laax in 2008. I know that I'm not the perfect boarder and I will never be, but who cares. It's just for fun.
2007 was the year of the TYPO3 videos. We had many many nice podcasts. Some other videos appeard here and there on the net. (e.g. on youTube) where people published some video tutorials for editors. As far as I know, the most of them are not active anymore. :-/
What else? Ah... the TYPO3 bloggingscene exploded. I estimate, 6 to 10 new german blogs around TYPO3 where born in 2007!? Or at least, the where recognized by the public for the first time this year. Who knows... I'm not sure if I like that we have so many blogs in german language. I don't have any problems with the blogs itself. I read them very often and it's a long time ago that I wrote some news as the first person. ;-) But what about the folks out there that don't speak german!? This days I know 3 english blogs (buzz, Dmitri's and this one). Maybe we'll see some other languages next year!? By the way, did you already voted for your favorite blog in 2007? If not it would be cool if you would do so on fi-ausbilden.de. (Maybe typo3-unleashed.net is your favorite blog!?).
In march I reactivated my old hobby: RC-cars. Great fun I can tell you!. The TYPO3 related topic in march was t3one.com. T3One was or is a portal for getting things done. Peopel can show there projects and ask for helping hands, sponsoring or whatever. A lot of discussions went on in the community about this portal. Many of the people wanted the portal integrated on typo3.org while the others said, that it's just a beta right now. As far as I know will t3one.com be integrated into typo3.org with the currently ongoing redesign.
Another great event (personally for me) in march was the relaunch of this page. I made a complete redesign of typo3-unleashed.net on my own and I was very satisfied with the result and I still like it a lot.
In April we had the next big event and this time it was for developers. The DevDays 2007. Once again the toke part in Dietikon Switzerland and was organized by Mario. For me it was not that funny event as it was in 2006 because of this post: The king has left the building. Yeap, 2007 was also the year where Kasper Skårhøj left the thwron. He quited his job as chief developer of TYPO3 and handed it over to Michael Stucki. Of course he didn't disappeared completely but in some way it was a huge test for me to don't loose my personal motivation. But you see I'm still here and so everything went fine in the end.
Many many other things happend in 2007, in the end I can say it was a godd year for me and I hope it was a good year for your too! I wish you all a great year 2008 and an fantastic new years eve party!!! :-D
Greets and cya in 2008,
