Hi,
Rupert is back and he has some great (tt_)news. It's more than one year ago that he released the last version of tt_news.
Now he is back with version 2.6.0. It's not yet published but I think it's on a good way. Rupert has implemented a great new feature. I bet that many of you have waited for ages for this. The new version of tt_news will support optionSplit.
OptioneSplit is one of the most powerful and most hated features of TYPO3. It's pretty hard to understand some times but what it offers is a great flexibility in menus. I don't want to explain what it actaully is. You can read the tsref if you don't know. The point is, that this feature is now supported in many places in tt_news. For example you can set different templates for first, middle and last entry in a tt_news list view.
The second thing I read about is the tremendous speed improvements in the new version. Rupert states that the new version is round about 10 (ten) times faster than the last release. If you don't want to use the optionSplit methods you are surely interested in the better performance. ;-)
I'm really looking forward to the new release and I hope that Ruper will release it soon. Great to see you back in Action Rupi!!!
Greets,
Thomas

It's great that rupert brings out a new version, but in fact I implemented the option split for tt_news. Ok rupert made it a better, and brought it into the official version, but I did it :-D
Thanks rupert...

Hi,
@Ingo: Okay, I didn't read that info. But anyway, it's a new version and that matters. ;-)
@Jonas: Thank you! :-D

Awesome, we built the optionSplit in recently for a project in Australia (http://www.valmorgan.com.au) to display the first tt_news item with a big teaser and stuff but its great that is becomes part of the extension now.
