Why I stopped my iPhone efforts

Hi folks,

some days ago I started to play around with the iPhone SDK but now I stopped it because of some things I read and heard in the net.

  1. The SDK is not complete. It's not sure that the application will run on the real hardware.
  2. Creating graphical interfaces just a pain in the a**.
  3. Apple ist treating european developers like s**t. (You can't become member of the developer program yet, no idea when this will be possible.)
  4. The coded applications can't be tested. The simulator is just a simulator (as the names says) and not an emulator. This means it's not the same as the real iPhone / iPod so once again, you can't be sure that the application behaves the same on the hardware some time in the future.

I was really curious about the SDK and after the first look, it was a nice thing. But now after think about it again, I think I will look at it again, as soon as the final is out.

Until that I will restrict myself to the normal Cocoa development for Mac OS X. ;-)

Greets,
Thomas

Not obvious barriers, thank you for the warning.

Hi Dalia,
this not a warning actually. I just want to point out why I will not contonue my efforts in iPhone development for some time. Everybody has to decide on his own, if he wants to work with the things given to us yet.

Greets,
Thomas
