Hello,
so this will be the first report where I want to describe what I did here in Dietikon the last days. Yesterday I published a small article with comments from some people I met here. If you are interested in what other people think, just have a look at the status report on typo3.org.
Well, now let's talk about my days. Unfortunately I didn't produced a single line of code here. But on the other hand this is not a problem at all because I met a lot of interesting people. Had a lot of interesting talks and I think that is also a great result. Get known to all the people you only know through their email addresses and maybe some chats is a great experience.
Another big event yesterday was the release of commerce. That was a big stone that fall down from my shoulder when we posted the announcement. We also had a small presentation here and Kasper has recorded it. So there is a chance that you'll see a podcast about commerce somewhen. But please don't ask when it will come. I don't know. Maybe the podcst will never be released if Kasper decided that we talked bullshit. (But actually I don't think so ;-) )
I also had a nice talk with some of the core devs about the future of "bughandling". How patches make their way into the core. And how it should be handled if someone is providing a patch for a particular problem.
Gina Steiner from the usegroup Hamburg and me also met with Jan from the T3N magazin and some guys from target-e to discuss the furture of the "Extension Comparison" team. What? You don't know what this is? Hm... I will try to explain it in one sentence: Extension Comparison Team is another approach to order existing extension and copmpare them. ;-) Please be patient, there will be some more information really soon.
Next big thing was the brainstorming session fpr TYPO3 4.X. So maybe noticed, that there won't be a TYPO3 4.5 and 5.0 but now there will be smaller steps with version numbers like 4.1, 4.2 and so on. Anyway, we brainstormed some nice things for the next versions and I hopefully can provide some patches for this. I'm sure that some kind of result will be released for download somewhere.
I spent some time on talking to people and collect the comments for the article I mentioned at the beginning of this article.
I don't know if there will be too much action today. Currently the last session of the 5.0 brainstorming is taking place on the second floor and after this, we'll have lunch. At 1pm the closing session starts and we'll see how many of the people will stay here and how long. ;-)
My plane goes at 9:30pm and so I hope there will be some further talks with some people. :-)
That's it for the moment, I hope I gave you a small but interesting overview about what is going on here.
Greets,
Thomas
