Problems with Firefox 1.5.0.7

By: Thomas

Hello,

it seems that since version 1.5.0.7 of Firefox, there are some strange problems with the TYPO3 backend. Many users reported, that the browser crashes in combination with HTMLarea. I can't confirm this because I don't use any RTE at all.

But I had some strange browser crashes when I tried to assign content elements in real mn relations. I have no clue if this is a problem of Firefox or TYPO3, or maybe a combination of both. Anyway, there is a bugreport about this issue, where you can add your comments if you discovered the same problems or if have a tip for solving this.

It seems, that this problem only occurs on Windows and Linux machines. Mac OS X users accounted that they can work as usual.

Greets,

Thomas

i had to go straight back to 1.5.0.6 (with difficulties to find that mozilla FTP archive of previous Firefox release!) 2 times!
because i left Firefox automatic update and it came back to .7 after a few hours ^_^

ciao!

Yes, that's right, with 1.5.0.7 Firefox crashes immediate, if I change the HTMLArea view from normal to HTML. Strange, but going back to 1.5.0.6 helped...

Just wanted to confirm this issue BUT no worries you don't need to go to IE...move to Firefox 3.0.1a like me : ) It's stable (enough) and has some nifty things...not all add-ons/extensions work though. Maybe 2.0 will fix the issue too I haven't tested.

There's a helpful workaround in http://bugs.typo3.org/view.php?id=4238. Look for notes 0010403 and 0010409!

Interesting, our designer upgraded to today's build of Bon Echo (Firefox 2RC1) and unlike mentioned in the bug entry (note#0010462) it works for him. It wasn't a clean install.

I have been using the nightlies of Firefox 2.0 (Bon Echo) and I have had no such problems... Just tried a few things and it seems to work. And besides, I have the feeling that 2.0 is a bit faster in page rendering ...
