Hi people,
are there any DAM experts out there who can tell me if DAM is feasible of managing 100000+ files outside the document root and how it performs with such a huge number of files.
If DAM can't do it, do you know any other systems that can be used for managing images inside of a database and which works well in combination with TYPO3?
Thanks and Greets,
Thomas

It's should be used only for managing and providing meta information. The frontend will be written to use that data.

I'm aware of 20 000 items DAM site but not 100 000...
The other product I hear often when people talk about DAM limitation is the Java based Alfresco...
Hope it helps a bit.

Thomas,
You may have already found your answer on this one, but take a look at the following products for help, albeit without budget you may be limited to act. These are expensive:
Artesia DAM (OpenText)
North Plains Telescope
EMC Documentum "DamTOP"
You'll want to do a bit more discovery on your comprehensive requirements before moving forward on a DAM implementation, although I'm not sure that is what you're actually posting about.
Good luck.

Do you want to use DAM as your photo manager? Or just as a gallery?
