Jo Hasenau

Hi,

this is the second issue of our interview tour that was started with an introduction of Tobias Liebig some days ago.

This time, Jo "JoH" Hasenau gave us some answers:

1. full name?

Jo Hasenau

2. nickname?

JoH, Joey

3. age?

02.09.1967 so currently I'm 40

4. where do you live?

Düsseldorf

5. how can one identify you?

Sunglasses, continuous three-day-beard, aristocratic paleness of a nighthawk, wearing my belly blousonlike atop of my pants

6. first TYPO3 version?

2002 3.5bx

7. favorite OS?

For work W2K, on my server Debian Etch

8. What are your doing concerning TYPO3?

In a way I'm the swiss-army-knife of TYPO3 Development. First of all I do TypoScript but there is Extension-Development, PHP, XHTML, CSS, Design, Training etc. too Besides that I am active with the content Rendering Group and the typo3.org team as well, devloper of the ICE-Pack which enables you to

create individual content elements based on IRRE, one of the authors of the TYPO3-Cookbook and corrector of some other TYPO3-books.

9. Where can someone meet you within TYPO3 community?

As a supporter on almost any of the typo3 lists except the UGs. Besides that at the Developer-Days, the Snowboard-Tour and from this year on at the T3CON as well.

10. And where else?

With a good single malt at home, on the road with my kids (unfortunately this happens not too often these days), every now and then at the nice cocktail-bar on the other side of the street, disproving conspiracy theorists in miscellaneous newsgroups or discussing at XING

11. company?

cybercr@ft

12. hobbies?

Hearing and making music, 3D-Action-Games, Movie-Collection

13. Why TYPO3?

Because there is know system I know of, that offers something as ingenious as TypoScript. Because it's a self-selling item and I have to admit that it could be because I'm just too lazy to struggle with other

systems ;-)

14. Your TYPO3 anecdote?

I first met TYPO3 because of a request of a client, who wanted to use a CMS. At that time I didn't even know what exactly a CSM is, so I started googling around. After checking out some systems, I finally ran into TYPO3 and thought, that it could come close to fit the needs of my client. Especially TypoScript was the deciding point, since it enabled me to use a PHP based system without any knowledge of PHP at all.

In weeks of hard work I created an appropriate presentation and the client was totally excited.

However I didn't get the contract, because the sales department thought it was too risky, to hand over such a high budget to just a single person. So I had much time to get used to my new discovery and today I

am earning a siginifant part of my income with it. Finally I am very greatful that the client decided this way, because I don't think I would ever have dived that deep into the system but on the other hand I would never have been in the embarassing situation of having to complete this survey too ;-)

15. If you where a dictator, what would dicated first?

a letter of course ;-)

Thanks and Greets,

Thomas
