TYPO3 Playing cards weirdness

By: Thomas

Hi,

some days ago I wrote about the TYPO3 Playing cards project by Volker Graubaum. I liked it and I still think it's a cool idea but now as the results are online I have to say I'm a little bit pissed off.

It's not the point that I'm not in the list of the final names. I can live with that. It's more the point that I can't agree with some names that are on the list. I don't want to blame anyone but read the list and decide for yourself if the names should be written there.

Greets,
Thomas

P.S.: I'm aware of the fact that I sound like a little kiddy who lays on the floor crying for a lollipop! ;-)

hoho...
i'm sure that you don't cry for a lollipop. i think this will be corrected by the law of large numbers, because in the wiki i read: "The nomination/votings on the wiki will be an ongoing process and we look forward to release a new card game every three months."

Who are Andy Lenz and Patrick Lobacher ?

Are they "German-only" people in german mailing-list ? I never came across their names in the last 5 years...

Got nothing against no one. Just curious.

I think Rene Fritz should not be on the list, he didn't update his extensions for a long time and his DAM desaster is realy bad publicity for TYPO3. I know of some companys starting to deinstall DAM and migrate back to regular filelist with big effort. There are also companies which think about using an other cms because DAM is so buggy and has no real improvments to TYPO3.

Andy Lenz is from the T3N Magazin (from Yeebase) and Patrick Lobacher has published a few articles and books about TYPO3.
Rene Fritz should be there - just alone for his work on the official book - and - hey Thomas - it's not about the world supremacy but a simple funny (and relatively inconsiderable) card game - not more not less. I have voted but I'm not even on the list - anyway.

And as I have understand right... the name reflect NOT who is famous in the TYPO3 world but it's just a list where everyone could vote for a name.

There could be a lot reasons, why you are not on the list:
- You are not that much in the mind of the people
- Most people who would have voted for you haven't heard from this voting
- You have 19 Points - thats position 8 over all - but as the game is devided in 8 categories and you have points in 3 of them - it was not enough for one category to be in the first four places

And - the game does not reflect your work for TYPO3 - it's just a game - and as Gina already pointed out - there will be a permanent ongoing process. So perhaps you will be on the next game :-)

Hi sirus,
as I said, it's not the point that I am not in the list. (I am now ^^) I would have been totally fine with that. Really! All I said was, that some people are in the list that might not that important than some others that didn't made it into the game.
Anyway, you're right of course. This is just a card game and not the reflection of the wotk the people do. Maybe it would be a good idea to put that to more public place. As soon as typo3.org is reorganized we possibly can find a place there for the voting. In first place to make it more public (As Gina and you said), the more people the more accurate are the results. And second could be a better solution for the rating. To be honest I don't see a solution for the endless voting... I mean how should somebody evey come into some of the top position if he joins the party in 6 months from now?

Greets,
Thomas
