Hi,
for a long time I used Eclipse for coding. The last weeks I was more and more annoyed by this huge monster. It was slow and it's a pain to update from one major release to another. Sure, it's mighty but it's also big and needs a lot of memory.
I searched for some alternatives and the most editors I found where not usable, just another Java-programm (I'm not a friend of Java) or simply to expensive. But today I stumbled over Komodo Edit. A free version of Komodo IDE. I installed it and fell in love with it. It's smaller and faster than Eclipse. I would say it is smarter. I'll test it the next days if it can replace Eclipse. Well, it lacks of some features that Eclipse can offer but I'm not sure if I really need that features.
I hope I can write a longer and more detailed review in some days. In the meantime you can try it yourself. http://www.activestate.com/Products/komodo_ide/komodo_edit.mhtml. It's available for Win, OSX and Linux.
Greets,
Thomas

XUL is also not so quick... And Komodo Edit have no ability for debugging, have it?

@Tobi: Sure, I will add one in the review. ;-)
@Alexey: It might be not so quick but it's faster than Eclipse and thats the important fact for me. ;-) But you are right, Debugging is one of the things Komodo Edit can't do. But to be honest, I don't use debuggers now in Eclipse, so it's not a big loss for me.
Greets,
Thomas
